“According to intelligence agencies, there are now tens of thousands of IS fighters* and their followers in the region, most of whom are concentrated near the borders of the Central Asian countries, but they have announced plans to extend their influence to the entire region,” – said in an article published on the occasion of the anniversary the September 11 attacks in New York.

According to Medvedev, America, during its almost 20-year operation in Afghanistan, “was unable to oppose anything to the militants of the Islamic State*, who massively moved from Syria to Afghanistan.” And the US withdrawal from Afghanistan only provoked the militants of the terrorist organization, which is a huge threat to Asia, Africa, the Middle East and all of Europe, ”said the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
