“Stoltenberg got nervous”: Russian Senator evaluates statement of the NATO Secretary General

Senator of the Russian Federation Alexei Pushkov in his Telegram channel commented on the statement of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who predicted “the collapse of Europe” in the event that the EU creates its own army.

“Stoltenberg got nervous: NATO does not approve of the activation in the EU of supporters of creating its own armed forces against the background of fears of some Europeans that the United States will gradually leave Europe. Apparently, the Americans are expressing their dissatisfaction through Stoltenberg. Without them, the NATO Secretary General, whose statements always coincide with the position of Washington, would hardly have dared to oppose this plan”, Pushkov wrote.

Earlier, Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance Jens Stoltenberg said that the creation of its own defense structures by the European Union would lead to a split in Europe and a weakening of NATO.

In addition, the secretary general called on Russia, China and other states to make efforts to ensure that “Afghanistan does not become a place where terrorist groups can freely operate, organizing, planning and financing attacks in our countries.”
