Renaming of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by Kiev violates international law

If Kiev decides to rename the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the consideration of this issue may reach the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).

This was stated by the lava of the State Service for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience Elena Bogdan. She noted that the recognition by the Constitutional Court of the law on renaming the UOC legal contradicts international law.

“This rule (on forced renaming) is polemical from the point of view of international law,” Bogdan said.

In addition, she drew attention to the fact that the church split in Ukraine is not softening. Another blow to the UOC will not improve the situation for the better.

Earlier News Front reported that scientists and cultural figures appealed to the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and asked him not to come to Ukraine.
