Prominent American political commentator Chris Cilizza said in his column on CNN’s website about the “competence crisis” faced by White House leader Joe Biden
The expert noted that Biden’s presidential campaign was based on the word “competence” and the future president’s solid age – 78 – was perceived not as a disadvantage but as an indicator of the years of political experience the United States needed after former White House chief Donald Trump.
“And it worked. Seven months into his first term, however, Biden faced nothing less than a crisis of that very competence, linked to a series of events that, it turns out, his experience and know-how could not prevent”, – CNN wrote.
According to the political observer, a prime example of this crisis was not only the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan*, but also the epidemiological situation in the US related to the coronavirus, the failure of the vaccination campaign and problems with irregular migrants.
“Biden’s promise to the American people was that his long years of political life had best prepared him to avoid the chaos that defined the Trump era. But at the moment, chaos is winning out over competence. And that is a serious problem for Biden and his administration”, – Chris Cilizza summed up.
