The West is waging a “deliberate campaign” against Russian medicines – the Russian ambassador to the US stated

The Russian ambassador to the United States said, “The West refuses to acknowledge that our scientists’ achievements can help ensure the health and well-being of all mankind.”

Russia’s ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, responding to media questions on Friday, said Western states were waging a “targeted campaign against” Russian medical products, particularly coronavirus vaccines, it was  reported.

“The West refuses to acknowledge that the developments of our scientists can help ensure the health and well-being of all mankind. Moreover, there is a targeted campaign against domestic medicines”, –  he was quoted as saying in response to a question about the attitude of US partners towards the Russian Sputnik V vaccine by the embassy’s Facebook press service.

In confirmation of his words, the head of the Russian diplomatic mission recalled that “the annual report of the US Department of Health and Human Services for 2020 notes that the administration used the DHS office in Brazil to convince the country to reject Sputnik V.” It also noted that despite Russia’s willingness to supply its vaccine “in a transparent and non-discriminatory manner” on this issue, Russia continues to “face a notorious double standard”.

“In this regard, let us stress: where human health and lives are at stake, there should be no room for politics. We call on our partners to realise this as soon as possible. Only by joining forces can we win the fight against infection”, –  Antonov concluded.
