Slovenian Ambassador spoke about US calls to confront Russia

In an interview with RIA Novosti, the Ambassador of Slovenia to the Russian Federation Branko Rakovec said that Slovenia is pursuing an autonomous policy, although it respects the opinion of the United States.

The ambassador said this commenting on the words of the chairman of the group for American-Slovenian friendship in the US House of Representatives Paul Gosar.

To Gosar’s words that Slovenia has a duty to confront Russia and China after the country took over the chairmanship of the EU Council, Rakovec replied:

“I can say that the European Union and Slovenia are pursuing their autonomous, independent foreign policy. Of course, at the same time we respect our transatlantic colleagues”.
