Protests in Cuba have erupted due to the fact that residents of the island in recent years have freer access to Western social networks and receive from there information other than that provided by the government
That is the opinion of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
It estimates that “Cubans are increasingly using social media to express dissatisfaction with their government”. In many cases, according to the BBC, residents have “forced the authorities to react in the official media” to what is being discussed on social media. The corporation believes that “a significant proportion of the population today, mostly young people, have access to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
