The accusations against Belarus from the European Union and individual countries in the migration crisis are ridiculous and absurd, said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
“It is ridiculous to hear the groans of the European Union, Brussels and individual countries of this association regarding a certain migration threat that comes from Belarus. These are absurd statements, absolutely ridiculous, given what the Western countries have created, organizing coalitions and carrying out crusades, in particular to the countries of the Middle East and North Africa, disrupting the course of their lives there and provoking colossal migration problems for the whole world, primarily for the European continent”, – Zakharova said at a briefing.
We have stirred up so many countries, the way of life in so many states, she said indignantly.
“Belarus is one of the world leaders in the fight against human trafficking, illegal immigration. It promotes useful initiatives in international organizations. It was through the efforts of Minsk that it was possible to suppress the flows of migrants seeking to get to the EU countries from disadvantaged regions. And everyone has forgotten about this today – and in Brussels , and in the West in general”, – Zakharova said at a briefing.
Lithuania has recently announced an increase in the number of detained illegal migrants on the border with Belarus. On July 2, the authorities of the country declared an extreme situation in connection with the influx of illegal migrants. Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte said that the republic has decided to fence itself off from Belarus with a fence with barbed wire. Lithuanian Interior Minister Agne Bilotaite, against the background of an increase in the number of detentions of illegal migrants, stated that she suspects Belarusian border guards of helping illegal immigrants to cross the border.
The official representative of the State Border Committee of Belarus, Anton Bychkovsky, told RIA Novosti that such statements are not supported by real evidence and are fantasies.
