Kiev hopes that the United States will begin to take part in negotiations on the Donbass, but Washington may not agree to such a turn of events.
This was stated by Maria Zolkina, an analyst with the Democratic Initiatives Foundation, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
She is confident that the United States does not want to create new tension in relations with Russia or European states.
“The States are unlikely to be ready to push the idea of changing the negotiation format, nullifying the negotiations and restarting them as, for example, the Normandy Five with the involvement of the United States,” the expert noted.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Aleksey Reznikov, who is responsible for reintegration policy, spoke about the participation of Americans in the dialogue on Donbass. He expressed the hope that they will send a representative to the Trilateral Contact Group or even resume the Geneva format.
