Biden confirms he will not allow Iran to receive nuclear weapons

The US President added that he had ordered airstrikes on targets of Tehran-backed groups in Iraq and Syria.

According to TASS, on Monday, American leader Joe Biden said before talks with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin at the White House that the United States would not allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons.

“Iran will never receive nuclear weapons under my presidency”, – said the head of the Washington administration, indicating that he would discuss the situation around Iran with Rivlin.

Biden added that he had ordered airstrikes on targets of Iranian-backed groups in Iraq and Syria, which, according to Washington, attacked American troops. The president explained that he was guided by the second article of the American constitution, which allows the commander-in-chief to resort to military action in self-defense.

“And I have this power under the second article of the constitution, and even those in Congress who do not want to acknowledge it have admitted that it is”, – Biden said.

The American leader also stressed that his commitments to Israel are “unchanging” and that he is “unwaveringly committed to the self-defense” of the Jewish state. The head of the White House expressed support for the normalization of Israel’s relations with the countries of Africa and the Middle East.

“And beyond this important progress, we very much look forward to creating a broader bloc of peace and stability. The United States and Israel intend to continue to work together to strengthen peace and stability in the region”, – the US President said.
