German companies plan to invest over 800 million euros in Russia

The Russian-German Chamber of Commerce (RCC) examined how German entrepreneurs view the prospects for doing business in Russia.

The survey was conducted among representatives of 109 companies with a total turnover of 13 million euros. According to the study, about 89% support the lifting of sanctions against Moscow. The respondents also noted the importance of the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline for Germany.\

“Europe should not allow the US to patronize itself on energy policy issues. It is the sovereign right of Germany and Europe to independently determine their energy policy and resolve issues of security of supply and competitive security at their own discretion”, – said VTP President Rainer Seele.

In addition, almost half of German companies operating in Russia intend to invest about 840 million euros in the country in the coming year. According to the results of the 2020 survey, less than a third of companies were ready to invest in Russia.
