UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres commented on the joint statement by Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden on strategic stability
“The UN Secretary General welcomes the joint statement on strategic stability adopted by the presidents of the Russian Federation and the United States following yesterday’s summit in Geneva, in particular their confirmation of the principles that a nuclear war cannot be won and should never be unleashed”, – he quoted the statement Guterres, the official representative of the secretary general of the international organization Stefan Dujarrick.
The UN Secretary General also welcomed the intention of Russia and the United States to enter into an integrated bilateral dialogue on strategic stability.
The meeting between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Joe Biden took place on June 16 in Geneva at the Villa La Grange. The presidents adopted a joint statement on strategic stability.
