The German authorities presume blocking of Telegram in case of refusal to cooperate

The company could also be fined € 55 million for not having a contact person to communicate with the state

The German authorities plan to force the Telegram management to promptly remove prohibited content, share user data with the security forces and create a contact person position.

This is reported by Der Spiegel with reference to the country’s Interior Ministry. The publication points out that Telegram, which positions itself as a platform free from the influence of any state, attracts members of the Querdenker covid dissidents movement, right-wing extremists, drug dealers and fraudsters.
