However, Jakub Kulhánek believes that it is necessary to consider the prospects of cooperation between Moscow and Prague.
Relations between Moscow and Prague are in a difficult phase and it is an “illusory idea” to hope for their settlement in the near future.
Czech Foreign Minister Jakub Kulhánek said this on CNN Prima News on Sunday.
“The Czech Republic at the moment is in a very difficult phase [of developing] relations with Russia,” he stressed. – To hope that we will smooth these relations in the near future is an illusory notion”.
Nevertheless, according to the minister, it is necessary to consider the prospects of interaction between Russia and the Czech Republic.
“Next week I will ask the chairmen of all [represented in the republic’s parliament] political parties to appoint their foreign policy experts, and I will organise closed roundtables at the Foreign Ministry on the subject of Czech-Russian relations,” Kulganek said.
During the upcoming discussions at the Foreign Ministry, party experts will seek answers to the question of how to build future relations with Russia. According to the minister, in view of the forthcoming parliamentary elections on 8 and 9 October the Czech Republic needs the leading political subjects of the country to work out a common position on this issue.
