Readers of the British edition Express commented on the information about the completion of the first string of Nord Stream-2.
The day before, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. He specified that the construction of the second string of the gas pipeline will take about two more months. At the same time, Gazprom is already ready to fill Nord Stream 2 with blue fuel, the head of state noted.
“When the gas pipeline is fully completed, Ukraine will end”, – Godfather1 believes.
“Russia is a reliable supplier of energy for Western countries. Kiev will lose gas only because it does not pay for it”, – noted ofNoFixedAbode.
“The United States must be envious, because Russia makes friends so easily, makes new deals, makes a lot of money. Without a doubt, this fuel will soon reach us”, – wrote the user Londonlady1965.
“Trump would definitely not have let this happen! He imposed sanctions on this project. Soft Biden has curtailed this process. He’s just a weakling!” – BooandWoo said.
“Biden simply does not see the point in introducing new restrictions, because it is pointless – the pipeline is almost completed”, – HarryMeneely told him.
“So what’s the problem? Russia has always supplied Europe with gas”, – recalled TheIceQueen user.
Nord Stream-2 envisages the construction of two strings of a gas pipeline with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany. The project is actively opposed by the United States, which is promoting its liquefied natural gas to the European Union, as well as Ukraine and a number of European countries. At the same time, United States President Joe Biden admitted in May that sanctions against Nord Stream 2 are now counterproductive, since the pipeline is close to completion.
Russia has repeatedly called not to mention the project in the context of politics, since it is commercial. Nord Stream-2 is beneficial to both Moscow and Brussels. Germany is in favor of completing the construction of the gas pipeline and rejecting unilateral extraterritorial US sanctions.
