Despite opposition from some countries, the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline will be put into operation, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said in an interview with the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper.
“The project is being implemented not only by the Russian side, but by a consortium of the largest European companies that are interested in bringing Nord Stream 2 to the end. This is a purely commercial project. Therefore, I believe that the project will be implemented”, – Novak said.
He stressed that the past cold winter showed the need for Russian gas for European countries. According to him, the ability to increase the volume of gas supplies to Europe at any time is one of Russia’s main competitive advantages in the market.
“We have powerful reserves. We are able to increase the volume of supplies at any time. This is one of our competitive advantages. In the case of Europe, we are not just reliable suppliers. We are also the guarantors of energy security, “closing” in the event of any force majeure situations”, – concluded Novak.
The Ukrainian political scientist said that Kiev is afraid of the completion of the construction of the Russian gas pipeline “Nord Stream – 2” due to the fact that after its commissioning will disappear from the “invasion” of Moscow.
