Israeli air force strikes media building in Gaza Strip

The Israeli Air Force struck a building housing local and international media offices in the Gaza Strip, with journalists leaving the building before the attack, the Times of Israel reports

Journalists from Associated Press agency, Al Jazeera TV channel, in particular, were working in the building.

The Jerusalem Post notes that about an hour before the strike, the military warned the owner of the building to evacuate journalists and residents of the building. Presumably people had left the building shortly before the attack.

The media offices were located in a 15-storey building in Gaza. It also contained flats and offices of various companies.

RIA Novosti reported that Israel had earlier issued a “warning” that within the next hour its forces would attack the building housing the offices of the Al-Jazeera TV channel, the Associated Press Agency and other international media in the Gaza Strip.

Al-Jazeera TV channel and the Associated Press Agency also reported receiving a “warning”. The agency reports that its staff and residents left the building in a panic.
