Ukrainian general announces there is plan in the event of military invasion from territory of Belarus

At the same time, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine does not yet see the threat of a Russian offensive from the territory of Belarus.

According to Vesti.ua, speaking on Wednesday at the Ukraine 30. Country Security Forum, Ukrainian Defense Minister Andriy Taran said that Ukraine is carefully monitoring the situation on the Belarusian border, and the General Staff of the Armed Forces has a response plan.

“We are monitoring the situation very carefully, of course, we take into account such a possibility – the possibility of an invasion of Russian troops from the Belarusian direction, or the spread of military aggression through the territory of Belarus. But at present we do not notice any immediate threats”, – said the Minister of Defense.

According to him, if necessary, Ukraine has “certain plans” developed by the General Staff. He also noted that Russia is in no hurry to fulfill its promises to withdraw troops from the Ukrainian border.

“We know what to do if we see signs of the creation of a grouping of armed forces, which can be used through the territory of Belarus to attack Ukraine. According to our intelligence and information that we receive from the intelligence of our Western partners, Russia is very slowly withdrawing its troops. Withdrawing is true, but very slowly and what they promised to withdraw the troops by May does not correspond to reality”, – Taran added.
