Sad results of May 9: a wave of desecration of monuments swept across Ukraine

In Cherkassy, ​​near Poltava and Lvov, memorial monuments were damaged.

According to Vesti.ua, on May 9, in Ukraine, monuments to the veterans of the Great Patriotic War were damaged in several cities at once.

“In the city of Novy Rozdil, Lviv region, on the night of May 9, unknown persons threw down the granite slabs of the monument to those killed in World War II. Law enforcers have opened criminal proceedings”, – the local police said in a statement.

In the city of Sudovaya Vyshnya (Lviv region), a plaque was attached to the monument to “Soviet soldiers” with the inscription that the NKVD tortured fighters for the independence of Ukraine. The monument itself was doused with red paint. A criminal case was also opened on this fact. The monument to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War was also damaged in the Poltava region.

“A local resident in a state of alcoholic intoxication damaged the granite star at the Eternal Flame”, – the police in the city of Reshetilovka said.

In Cherkassy, ​​unknown persons poured paint on a monument to Stepan Bandera and Roman Shukhevych. On the monument they wrote “Chorti Get”. All acts of vandalism are under investigation.
