The US Secretary of State noted that “in the last few years, China has become more repressive at home and more aggressive abroad”
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said in an interview with CBS television on Sunday that neither the US nor China wants a military confrontation as it is against their interests.
“I think it is completely against the interests of both China and the US to move towards that point or even choose that direction”, – he said.
That said, according to Blinken, “China believes it can, should and will dominate the world,” adding that “in the last few years, China has become more repressive at home and more aggressive abroad.”
In addition, the US secretary of state said that his country has no option not to cooperate with the PRC.
“We cannot afford the luxury of not engaging with China”, – he said, adding that in all areas of the relationship with China, whether in confrontation, competition or cooperation, “there are real challenges” in the interaction between the two countries.
