President of the Serbian Assembly: it is even impossible to imagine what Serbia would be without the support of Russia

Ivica Dacic spoke at the opening of the Russian Balkan Center in Belgrade.

As Sputnik Serbia writes, the President of the Serbian Assembly Ivica Dacic congratulated on the opening of the Russian Balkan Center, touched upon the development of Serbian-Russian relations, assessing that they are at the highest point of their rich history.

“I can’t even imagine where Serbia, Kosovo and Metohija would be today if we didn’t have the support of Russia all these years. This is fundamental support, and Russia, as a current world power, is showing a tendency to prevent violations of international law”, – Dacic said.

“We have built strong ties at many levels, the cooperation of our leaders and good relations between the two presidents are an important prerequisite for cooperation on others levels”.

Dacic noted that support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia from Russia, President Vladimir Putin, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and the entire leadership is invaluable. He also said that Serbia, which itself has been subject to sanctions for a long time, does not accept the policy of unilateral decisions and pressure, and that it has not joined and will never join the sanctions against Russia.

“We do not intend to join the sanctions against Russia, not only because by doing so we are destroying our friendship, but also because it will harm our interests. We are firm in this”, – Dacic said, adding that although Serbia aspires to become a member of the EU, it does not want to give up friendship and excellent relations with Russia on this path.

Dacic confirmed that the delegation of the National Assembly will visit Moscow on June 1 at the invitation of the Chairman of the Russian State Duma, which, according to him, will make another contribution to the development of bilateral relations, like the earlier visit of Foreign Minister Nikola Selakovich.
