The US State Department has allowed embassies to display LGBT flags alongside the American flag, according to a telegram from United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken
However, the document explains that it is up to the embassy to decide whether to display the LGBT symbol, taking into account “local conditions”.
US embassies traditionally display the rainbow flag on their buildings during Pride Month in June and on International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia on May 17.
Former US President Donald Trump’s administration had previously banned the rainbow flag from being displayed on the same flagpole as the American national flag.
