Chinese leader Xi Jinping has called for abandoning hegemonic ambitions in global governance
Speaking at the annual Boao Asia Forum on Tuesday, April 20, Xi criticised efforts by individual states to “erect barriers” and “disengage” that harm others.
“The world wants justice, not hegemony”, – the Chinese leader said during a speech at the forum. – “A big country should look like a big country, showing that it takes more responsibility.”
Although Xi went without specifics, he was clearly addressing the United States, where a massive anti-China campaign has been launched.
“International affairs should be conducted through negotiation and discussion, and the future fate of the world should be decided by all countries”, – Xi declared. – “One or more countries should not impose their rules on others, and the world should not be led unilaterally by a few countries.”
