Police storms bank in Tbilisi where unknown person took hostages

The police released the hostages who were captured by an armed man in a bank in Tbilisi, the head of the patrol police Vazha Siradze told reporters.

According to him, the invader was detained.

“An investigation has been launched into the fact, and at the moment, investigative measures are underway”, – Siradze added.

He noted that he could not yet report on the demands of the attacker and the number of hostages, but promised to tell about it later.

The incident took place in the express branch of the Bank of Georgia not far from the Avlabari metro station. As reported by Sputnik Georgia, at that moment there were five people in the bank, the attacker immediately released one woman, three employees and a security guard remained in the building.

The Rustavi 2 TV company reports, citing sources, that the invader was 28-year-old Nikoloz Tsurtsumia from the city of Zugdidi, who was armed with a pneumatic pistol, which he borrowed from a store.
