Austrian newspaper Der Standard has called the conflict in the territory of Donbas a civil war, which “angered” Ukrainian Ambassador to Austria Alexander Shcherba
“For several weeks, people have been dying constantly in eastern Ukraine. The conflict, which has been going on for seven years, may now escalate”, – Der Standard wrote in an article entitled “Ukraine wants to join NATO. Civil war erupts again”.
Ukraine’s ambassador in Vienna, Oleksandr Shcherba, was extremely “outraged” by such a headline in the Austrian newspaper and wrote on Twitter that Der Standard “is not telling the truth, as this is Ukrainian land and Russian soldiers”.
“Ukrainian land. Russian flags, soldiers and weapons on one side, Ukrainian on the other. But this is not an occupation, but a ‘civil war’ for Der Standard”, – Shcherba was indignant on social media.
