Federation Council tells how Russia should respond to Ukrainian sanctions

Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev proposed not to respond to the sanctions of Ukraine in a mirror image and refrain from closing the Ukrainian cultural center in Moscow, reports TASS.

Earlier, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine imposed sanctions on 11 Russian companies. Among them was the branch of Rossotrudnichestvo in Kiev, which entails a ban on its activities.

The parliamentarian believes that this decision of the Ukrainian authorities has become “another example of a consistent degradation in their policy in the Russian direction”. According to Kosachev, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had every chance to resolve the conflict in the southeast of the country, but he continued “dismantling the Russian-language education system, continuing to glorify Bandera and others like them”.

“In such cases, it is customary to answer in a mirror image. It is imperative to answer. But if it were my will – choosing retaliatory measures, one should refrain from the counter-closure of the Ukrainian cultural center in Moscow. Don’t be like homegrown nationalists. Contacts between people, primarily humanitarian, should not suffer from the idiocy of the Ukrainian authorities”, – Kosachev wrote on his Facebook page.
