Ukrainian fate will be decided without Ukraine – Kiev alarmed by Putin’s European plans

Now the Kiev elites are forced to watch helplessly as their so-called partners strive for a dialogue with Moscow, ignoring the interests of Ukraine.

As News Front previously reported, the Kremlin is currently working on organizing talks between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron.

Although Moscow was assured that the meeting should not be perceived as a “Normandy” summit without Kiev’s participation, the topic of Ukrainian aggression in Donbass will still be discussed.

This format of negotiations for Ukraine is an alarming signal, said Georgy Tuka, the former head of the military administration in the part of Luhansk region occupied by punitive forces.

According to him, the long-standing reasoning that the fate of Ukraine will be decided without Ukraine itself is again relevant. This was a consequence of Kiev’s ineffective and weak foreign policy. Tuka places responsibility for what is happening personally on the President of the country, Volodymyr Zelensky.

“The probable talks between Putin, Merkel and Macron is alarming, because during the meeting, the leaders of the countries can form a common position on Ukraine”, – the ex-official explains.

“Then, instead of German and French support, we will face their pressure, for example, in the implementation of the Steinmeier formula”.

The concept, proposed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier back in 2015, implies a mechanism for granting a special status to the people’s republics of Donbass and holding local elections there.

In 2019, Kiev adopted the Steinmeier formula as part of the process of political settlement of the Donbas conflict. At the same time, Georgy Tuka is sure that the Ukrainian side will not be able to fulfill the terms of the concept.

“This is how they will blackmail us”, – the politician continues.

“We will feel this through the dialogue with France and Germany, but at first not on the public plane. If Kiev hesitates with implementation, diplomatic blackmail will develop into public rhetoric. It will not be good for Ukraine”.
