Trump called the China-US talks in Anchorage humiliating for Washington

The former US leader noted that “no one has ever talked like this” to his representatives or to him personally

Former US President Donald Trump believes high-level talks between the US and China in Anchorage, Alaska, were humiliating for Washington. The Republican shared this opinion in an interview with Fox News television on Thursday.

“Nothing like this has ever happened under me”, –  Trump noted. – “This is a real humiliation for our country. It’s just unthinkable.”

This is how the former US leader responded to the host’s request to comment on the talks, at which she claimed Chinese representatives allegedly pointed out to their American counterparts that the US had racism-related problems.

“We would just walk away [from the talks]”, –  the Republican continued. – “No one has ever spoken in that vein to my representatives or to me personally. –  “If they allowed themselves to do that, I would have doubled trade duties, which probably should have been done anyway”, –  Trump stated.

High-level talks between the US and China were held in Anchorage last week. On the US side, they were attended by Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Jake Sullivan, the US leader’s assistant for national security, and on the Chinese side by Yang Jiechi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the Office of the CPC Foreign Affairs Commission, and Wang Yi, China’s foreign minister. The talks took place in a climate of disagreement, with the two sides exchanging critical remarks and accusations of breaches of diplomatic protocol and etiquette at the outset. Nevertheless, at the end of the meeting, the parties acknowledged that a constructive dialogue had taken place.
