AP: More than 300 people killed in clashes in Myanmar since start of February

The death toll from clashes between protesters and security forces in Myanmar has reached 320 since February 1, according to the Associated Press Agency. This was reported by Associated Press Agency on Friday.

On 22 March, human rights activists reported 250 victims. The following day, the Myanmar military confirmed the deaths of only 164 protesters and regretted it.

Earlier, the organisation’s secretary-general, António Guterres, condemned the brutal military violence in Myanmar. The UN plans to impose sanctions against the state on April 1. On 22 March, the EU and the US imposed sanctions against those involved in the military’s seizure of power in Myanmar and the crackdown on protesters. The US Treasury Department blacklisted two major companies controlled by the Myanmar military, Myanmar Economic Corporation and Myanmar Economic Holdings Ltd, whose assets in US banks will be frozen.
