Norwegian authorities seek to cancel deal on purchase of Norwegian plant Bergen Engines by Russian company Transmashholding

The Norwegian authorities are seeking to cancel the deal on the purchase of the Norwegian plant Bergen Engines by the Russian company Transmashholding.

Norway’s Minister of Justice and Public Safety Monika Malann, speaking in the Storting said the government believes that national security interests could be jeopardized if the Bergen Engines diesel and gas piston medium-speed engine plant moves to property of the international division of the Russian group of companies “Transmashholding” TMH International, therefore, on March 26, at a meeting of the State Council, the king will be presented with a proposal to stop the transaction in accordance with section 2-5 of the Security Law.

Everyone is concerned about the security issues associated with foreign acquisitions, but this case shows that we have a new security law that will help us deal with such situations and keep Norway as a safe and independent state, said Norwegian Defense Minister Frank Bakke-Jensen.
