According to political scientist Vladimir Bruter, Moldovan President Maia Sandu will not be able to fight corruption in the republic, since the West is selective about corrupt officials, writes the Telegram-channel “Choice of Moldova”.
“Remember the statement of the State Department on Kolomoisky, the introduction of sanctions against him. As part of the fight against oligarchy. But for some reason, neither Poroshenko, nor Akhmetov, nor Pinchuk are affected by this statement. Although in present-day Ukraine they are richer and closer to the authorities”, – the expert said.
In his opinion, the system of aid and grants also corrupts politicians, as does corruption, because there is a “customer who pays”. The political scientist is sure that targeted strikes will not help to cope with corruption in a country like Moldova.
“Corruption, from the point of view of the collective West, is always right and wrong. If you are on grants, this is also corruption. And we must call these things by their proper names. Because when you are on grants and at the same time are present in politics, you have a customer who pays you, and there are people to whom you don’t owe anything”, – Bruter said.
