Nice mayor calls on French authorities to allow purchase of Russian vaccine Sputnik V

Nice Mayor Christian Estrosi has appealed to the French authorities to allow him to import Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine, which was developed in Russia, to the city

“I am asking the authorities in charge of health care to give me permission to do so”, –  Estrosi wrote on Twitter.

He stressed that Nice is a city of international importance, which gives the city authorities the right to negotiate for the supply of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine themselves.

The Sputnik V vaccine was developed by Russian scientists at the Gamaleya Research Centre for EIA. The vaccine is based on a well-studied adenovirus platform which ensures high efficacy and safety. Sputnik V has now been registered in 51 countries.
