German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung: Russian Sputnik V vaccine could become a hit

The Russian vaccine against the Sputnik V coronavirus is attracting more and more attention from other countries, writes the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung.

The publication noted that there is now a solid database on the drug, and the medical journal The Lancet published an article that says the vaccine is 91.6 percent effective. Independent experts have called Sputnik V safe and effective.

The publication recalls that about 30 countries have already trusted the Russian drug, including Hungary, which is the only one in the European Union to issue a permit for the use of Sputnik V. Now interest in the drug is growing from Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Croatia.

The newspaper noted that even Czech Prime Minister Andriy Babis called Hungary a role model.

The publication recalled that the situation with coronavirus in the Czech Republic and Slovakia is difficult. However, the supply of the Russian drug to these countries is being blocked by coalition partners and health ministers, who insist on a common European path.
