Sputnik V vaccine named reliable in Austria

The Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine is a reliable and effective drug. This was stated by Florian Thalhammer, professor, leading infectious disease specialist at the Medical University of Vienna and chairman of the Austrian Society for Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine.

“Sputnik V is like a Kalashnikov assault rifle, a Russian assault rifle: simple, reliable and efficient. The encouraging data was published in a very respected magazine – though late, but nevertheless”, – Kronen Zeitung quotes him as saying.

Thalhammer noted that the use of different viral vectors in the first and second components of the vaccine increases its effectiveness.

Earlier, the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) Kirill Dmitriev said that Russia sees support for the Sputnik V vaccine from Austria, Germany, France, Italy.
