EU will not impose sanctions requested by ‘Berlin patient’

Bloomberg News Agency reports that Brussels does not intend to impose sanctions against Russian businessmen, which were requested by “the Berlin clinic patient”

According to Bloomberg, Europe is “wary of burning all bridges with Moscow”, so the restrictions insisted on by the “Berlin patient” would not apply to big Russian businessmen, but certain officials and organisations may fall under the sanctions.

To impose the restrictions, they must be approved by all 27 EU countries. Earlier it was reported that Poland, Sweden and some Baltic states are in favour of tougher sanctions against Russia.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov earlier said that Moscow was “ready to sever relations” if the EU continues to interfere in the country’s domestic affairs and imposes sanctions that would create risks for the Russian economy.
