The principles laid down in the UN Charter will never lose their relevance, despite attempts by a number of countries to dilute its role in resolving international issues, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on Monday.
“I am convinced that, despite the attempts of individual states to erode its defining role in international affairs, the fundamental goals and principles formulated in the UN Charter will never lose their relevance”, – Zakharova said at the opening of the X Anniversary Session of the International Youth Model of the United Nations of the Diplomatic Academy Russian Foreign Ministry.
As the Russian diplomat noted, over the past decades, the UN “has established itself as a universal and effective mechanism for resolving disputes, providing assistance to needy members of the international community on a wide range of humanitarian, economic, cultural and social issues”.
