Maduro announces production of national coronavirus drug

Venezuela’s president has assured that the drug has no side effects

Production of a new drug to treat the coronavirus Carvativir, created in Venezuela, begins this week. The news was announced on Tuesday by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, Telesur TV channel reported.

“Starting this week [in Venezuela], mass production of a powerful antiviral drug that will be available for Latin America, the Caribbean and the world will begin”, –  Maduro said at a meeting of the General Staff of Health. He said Carvativir is a highly effective treatment for patients infected with the coronavirus.

“I can say that after clinical tests on patients, biological tests in the laboratory with the participation of all scientific institutions in Venezuela and other countries it has been proven that Carvativir is a powerful complementary agent to treat COVID-19”, –  the president said.

Earlier he stated that Carvativir, “better known as Jose Gregorio Hernandez Miracle Drops”, neutralizes 100% of coronavirus. According to the head of state, the drug has been used to treat moderate to severe patients who have recovered safely. The medicine in the form of drops is taken under the tongue every four hours. Maduro assured that it had no side effects.
