Across the US, police departments are firing officers who support protests against election rigging in favour of Joe Biden
The reprisals are taking place despite officers not being banned from expressing their political views.
According to The Washington Post, the purges began after the recent storming of the US Congress building. Many police officers then sided with protesters opposed to the acceptance of the fraudulent vote. So far, officers and at least one police chief have been punished for supporting the protesters.
In Seattle, two officers have been suspended following an internal investigation. It emerged from social media that both officers were in Washington on the day of the Capitol assault.
“The department fully supports all legitimate First Amendment free speech expressions, but the violent mob and events that unfolded at the US Capitol were illegal and led to the death of another police officer”, – said Seattle interim police chief Adrian Diaz.
In this regard, he promised to fire every officer who “was directly involved in the uprising outside the Capitol”.
Thomas Goldie, an officer with the Pittsburgh Police Department, was also under investigation. The reason was a photo of Goldy at a rally wearing a hat with a pro-Trump slogan on it, CBS Pittsburgh reported. The pressure on the officer continues even though he was not involved in the assault.
The Oakland, California police department went even further. Here, even a demonstration of support for the protesters on social media for police officers could end in dismissal. Some officers are already under investigation.
Earlier, News Front also reported that US authorities had launched a manhunt for Trump supporters, charging dozens of them with criminal offences.
