Four people killed in protests outside the Capitol

Washington authorities have confirmed the deaths of a total of four people during protests in front of the US Congress. This was announced at a press conference by the head of the Metropolitan Police, Robert Conti.


He confirmed the death of one woman from a gunshot wound in the building of Congress and specified that the shot was fired by a member of the Metropolitan Police.

Conti also reported three other deaths, without specifying the specific reasons for these deaths.

“In addition to this, there were reports today that three other people have also died in the area around the Capitol Building: one adult woman and two adult men experienced various medical emergencies that led to their deaths”, – he said.

According to the head of the Metropolitan Police, “at least 14 employees of the Metropolitan Police were injured during the demonstrations”. Two of them were hospitalized.
