More than 192,000 cases of COVID-19 detected in the US in 24 hours

The number of detected cases of coronavirus infection in the United States has increased by more than 192 thousand over the past 24 hours, 2.8 thousand people have died, according to Johns Hopkins University, which summarizes the data of federal and local authorities, as well as media and other public sources.

In the past 24 hours, health officials have recorded 192,081 new cases of COVID-19 infection and 2,899 deaths in the United States, according to the university.

Last week, Hopkins University recorded a daily high of more than 249,000 infections in the US. At the same time, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported more than 400,000 cases of COVID-19 confirmed overnight, but this was explained by the fact that CDC statistics now include not only confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Texas but also “probable” cases (more than 171,500 with 13,253 confirmed).

According to Hopkins University, more than 18.6 million cases of the coronavirus have been identified in the USA since the epidemic began, with more than 329 000 deaths.
