Trump said that the Paris Climate Agreement gives Russia an advantage over the USA

The American leader also noted that the Democrats want to return to the agreement that was designed to destroy the United States

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed the view that Russia has a significant advantage over the United States in terms of meeting the conditions of the Paris Climate Agreement. The current U.S. leader made the corresponding statement on Saturday, speaking to supporters in the State of Georgia.

“The Paris Climate Accord – I thought I would be killed for [getting out of] it. But we would have to pay trillions and trillions of dollars”,-  Trump said.

“Russia has a serious advantage before us. They come from old times, when the air was very dirty, that was their standard. And China will not take action until 2030. We could do it immediately, but how much money would it cost us. We would also have to close about 20% of our plants,” said the American leader.

“And now the first thing they [democrats] want to do is return to the Paris Agreement. It was designed to destroy the United States”, –  Trump concluded.

The Paris Agreement was adopted on 12 December 2015 following the 21st Conference of the Framework Convention on Climate Change. The participating countries agreed to prevent the average temperature on the planet from rising by more than two degrees Celsius by 2100 compared to pre-industrial times. The agreement, among other things, envisages a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. As part of the agreement, Russia has set its own targets to reduce harmful emissions to 70% of 1990 levels by 2030.

In June 2017, Trump announced the decision to leave the agreement, to which the country acceded in 2016, even before taking power. The Head of the White House is convinced that it will redistribute American wealth to other countries, and that implementation of the agreement could result in a loss of 2.7 million jobs for the United States by 2025. Democrat Joseph Biden, who is predicted by leading American media to have won the US presidential election, has previously stated on several occasions that he will ensure that the US returns to the Paris Climate Agreement.
