The new structure is designed to improve the Pentagon’s ability to meet African and European strategic and operational challenges
The Correspondent reports that the US Department of Defense has announced the merger of the US Army in Europe and the US Army in Africa into a single command.
“The new organisation, known as the US Army in Europe and Africa, will improve the ability of the armed forces to meet African and European strategic and operational challenges. The merger will also increase manoeuvrability and the ability to move forces and assets from one theatre of war to another in support of both African and European U.S. command”, – the command’s press release says.
The newly promoted General Christopher Cavoli will command the United States.
