In European countries, representatives of the Moldovan diaspora are massively taken to polling stations so that they vote “for whom it is necessary”.
As reported by the portal “Noi.md”, referring to the audio recordings of conversations at the disposal of the journalists, the leaders of the diaspora bring voters to the polling stations free of charge, demanding that they vote “for who the whole diaspora votes for”.
It should be noted that during the first round of the presidential elections in Moldova, 70% of the diaspora representatives supported the leader of the pro-Western opposition Maia Sandu. This is due to the fact that Moldovans living in the European Union voted more actively than Moldovans in Russia. However, it cannot be ruled out that the turnout was caused by artificial mobilization, which is still observed.
Sandu exploits the diaspora, as in Moldova its support remains extremely low. Citizens saw her incompetence as prime minister. The representatives of the diaspora, in turn, are not worried about the conformity of the qualities of Sandu to the presidency, since they do not live in Moldova.
It is noteworthy that initially Sandu accused the current president, Igor Dodon, of intending to use Moldovans in Russia and providing them with better conditions for voting. Also, the opposition openly prevents Moldovan citizens who live in Transnistria from voting in elections, as they do not support Sandu’s pro-Western course.
