Trump believes that Biden’s victory will delay the introduction of the American coronavirus vaccine

During the TV debate, the US President promised that the drug would be available within a few weeks.

Democrat Joseph Biden’s victory in the US presidential election will delay the introduction of the American coronavirus vaccine. This opinion was expressed on Saturday by Donald Trump, the current head of the Washington administration.

“If Joe Biden and his Socialist Democrats gain power, they will detain the vaccine”, – said the American leader, speaking to supporters in North Carolina. The event was broadcast on news TV channels.

“They are prolonging the pandemic”, –  Trump added, blaming the American media for what he said was excessive coverage of the coronavirus in the US. The head of state linked this to the upcoming elections, suggesting that there would be less news about the pandemic in the media after the vote.

“That’s all I hear about now, turn on the TV: Covid, Covid <…>. A plane falls, 500 people die, they do not talk about it. Covid, Covid, Covid <…>. By the way, on November 4 you will no longer hear about it”, –  the President of the United States is convinced.

On Thursday, during a TV debate with Biden, Trump promised that the readiness of the American coronavirus vaccine will be announced within a few weeks.

Earlier, Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said that the US is likely to have just a few million doses of safe and effective coronavirus vaccine by the end of 2020. He also said that the vaccine will be available to the general public in the first quarter of 2021. According to Fauci, this is likely to happen by April. For his part, Robert Redfield, Director of the U.S. Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said that American Coronavirus vaccine will be available to the general public in the second half of 2021.

The US authorities have provided $1.2 billion to the British-Swedish pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, which develops the vaccine together with scientists from Oxford University (UK). In addition, the Washington administration has allocated $486 million to the American biotechnology company Moderna and $456 million to Johnson & Johnson. Merck and Pfizer are also developing a coronavirus vaccine in the United States. According to the White House, the US administration has invested a total of $12 billion in these projects.
