Lukashenko told Pompeo that Russia is Belarus’ main ally

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said in a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo that Russia does not interfere in the internal affairs of the republic. The Belarusian leader emphasized that Russia is Belarus’ main ally.

“Referring to the foreign policy agenda, Lukashenko stressed that Russia is the main ally, highlighting the support provided at this time. At the same time it was noted that Russia does not interfere in the internal affairs of Belarus, and the countries are ready to jointly respond to emerging external threats”, –  the Belarusian media reported.

Lukashenko informed Pompeo about the national dialogue which is actively conducted in Belarus.
In turn, the U.S. Secretary of State said that the United States is “committed to the sovereignty of Belarus and supporters of cooperation.

“Lukashenko and Pompeo discussed the domestic political situation in Belarus and the USA. The State Secretary stressed that he remains committed to the sovereignty and independence of the Republic and a supporter of cooperation with Belarus. Lukashenko has informed the interlocutor about the national dialogue which is now actively conducted in Belarus”, –  the mass media report specifies.
