Harris: Trump prefers to believe Vladimir Putin rather than American intelligence

Earlier the American intelligence community announced that Russia had interfered in the U.S. presidential election in 2016 and is trying to do so in 2020. President Donald Trump prefers to believe Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statements rather than American intelligence reports of Russian interference in the U.S. presidential election. This statement was made on Wednesday at a TV debate with the US Vice-President, Republican Michael Pence, by the candidate for the US Vice-Presidency from the Democratic Party of Kamala Harris. The TV debate takes place on the stage of Kingsbury Hall at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and is broadcast by all major American TV companies.

“I am a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee and the American intelligence community has told us that Russia intervened in the U.S. presidential election in 2016 and is trying to do so in 2020”, –  she said. – “FBI Director Christopher Ray says the same, but Donald Trump, the Commander-in-Chief of the American Armed Forces, prefers to take President Vladimir Putin’s word for it, contrary to what the American intelligence community says.”

The topic of potential interference in the US elections is regularly raised in connection with allegations by the US authorities that Russia is involved in such actions. Moscow has repeatedly rejected such allegations against itself. As Russian President’s Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov noted in February, the Kremlin regrets to expect more and more such insinuations as the next US election approaches. According to Peskov, such statements “have nothing to do with the truth”.
