The army of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic destroyed three aircraft of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, said the press secretary of the Armenian Defense Ministry Shushan Stepanyan.
“At about 12.00 (11.00 Moscow time), units of the Artsakh Defense Army in the southern direction shot down three aircraft and hit two enemy tanks”, – she said on Facebook.
The head of the press service of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry, Colonel Vagif Dargahli, in turn, told RIA Novosti that the information about the shelling of military facilities in the city of Ganja “is provocative and false”.
“As a result of enemy fire, civilians, civilian infrastructure and ancient historical buildings were damaged”, – he said.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry believes that the statements of the Armenian leadership about the alleged presence of Turkish forces in the region “pursue only one goal – to attract a third party to the conflict”.
In turn, the President of Nagorno-Karabakh has already stated that he gave an order to stop rocket attacks on Ganja in order to avoid casualties among the civilian population.
The situation in Nagorno-Karabakh
Last Sunday, September 27, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry announced that the Armenian army fired at a number of settlements on the contact line in Nagorno-Karabakh, which resulted in civilian and military casualties.
In turn, the Armenian Defense Ministry stated that Karabakh was “subjected to air and missile attacks”, however, they were organized by the Azerbaijani forces located at the contact line in order, in the opinion of official Yerevan, to “launch an offensive” in the Karabakh direction.
In the most unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, it was reported that, in particular, the capital Stepanakert was subjected to shelling, in connection with which the Artsakh authorities called on the population to take refuge in shelters, and later declared martial law and mobilization in the region.
Subsequently, similar steps were announced in Armenia. The general mobilization was the first such action in the modern history of the republic.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev introduced martial law in a number of cities and regions of the country and announced a curfew and partial mobilization.
A number of states, including Russia, Germany, the United States and France, have called on the parties to exercise restraint. For its part, the Turkish authorities publicly noted that Ankara is ready, if necessary, to provide Baku with not only political and diplomatic, but also other types of support.
Earlier, it was reported that Armenia announced the injuries and destruction in Stepanakert.
