Andrei Klimov, the head of the Federation Council commission for the protection of state sovereignty, did not rule out that the United States, as part of its strategy to restrain Russia, may use conflicts near the Russian border to destabilize the situation in the country.
Protests in Belarus began on August 9 after the presidential elections in the republic. The situation in Karabakh has worsened since September 27.
“The United States may try to use conflicts along the perimeter of the borders of the Russian Federation to destabilize the situation in our country, this is consistent with their overall strategy to restrain Russia”, – Klimov told RIA Novosti.
He also spoke about the causes of conflict situations on the Russian borders.
“I don’t think that each of these situations had a single director, but the fact that now they will try to use these conflicts to destabilize the situation in Russia is most likely”, – the parliamentarian said.
Earlier, Sputnik radio reported that the Kremlin had announced its position on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.
