Two more detained in the attack on Charlie Hebdo in France

French police have detained the younger brother and acquaintance of an 18-year-old Pakistani who is suspected of stabbing journalists outside the old building of the satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo in Paris. This was reported by the agency France-Presse, citing sources in the judicial sphere.

Thus, already nine people are in custody within the framework of this investigation.

Earlier, five people who lived with the suspect in the northern suburbs of Paris, as well as his former flatmate, were detained. Another detainee – a 33-year-old Algerian – who was initially believed to be an accomplice in the incident, was released on Friday evening. His lawyer said on Saturday that the man was actually trying to stop the attacker and even showed the police in which direction he fled.
