The Czech Minister of Health, Adam Vojtech, announced his resignation on Monday. He made this announcement at a briefing in Prague.
“I resigned”, he said. – “I tried to do my job as well as possible. For the work I was entrusted with, I was sick with all my heart. In the three years [that I was in charge of the Ministry of Health], we managed to do a lot.”
Vojtech presented his resignation request to Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš. The outgoing politician expects his successor to be able to cope better with the deteriorating epidemiological situation in the republic.
Coronavirus infection has been spreading rapidly in the Czech Republic since 1 September. On 17 September, the daily increase in the number of people infected for the first time exceeded 3,000, to 3,129. Experts predict a further increase in the number of infections. The most difficult epidemic situation remains in Prague.
